The Neogen Fast Fish Protein Set is intended for checking for the presence of fish proteins in clean-in-place (CIP) final rinse water, environmental samples, food ingredients and processed food products. The Neogen Fast Fish Protein Set uses lateral flow (LFD), which is an immunochromatographic test method that uses antibodies specific for the detection of fish proteins.

Positive results are represented by the presence of three lines: a control line, a marker line, and a test line, if the fish protein is present in a series of concentrations with a lower level of 1 ppm. This limit value can vary depending on the matrix tested. The upper detection limit has not been set for specific fish species. Samples containing large amounts of fish protein may result in an invalid test, which is indicated by the absence of the marker line and / or test line.
