The 3M Aerobic Count Plate is a sample-free plate designed to determine the total aerobic bacterial population. The built-in grid makes it easier, faster and more accurate to count colonies. All 3M Aerobic Count Plates contain a water-soluble gelling agent, indicator and nutrients. All the elements required for microbial growth without the agar preparation.

Counting with the 3M Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plate takes just 48 hours. To facilitate counting, the count plate contains a red indicator dye that colours all colonies in the plate red for better counting and contrast. The colonies are easily distinguished from food particles that may cause confusion with other methods. The plates can also be used aerobically or anaerobically to count lactic acid bacteria in food and environmental samples.
